From time-to-time, when I tell someone that I am a therapist, of the
psycho/hypno variety, they tell me that when they have a problem they
talk it over with their girlfriends or with their mates. Why would
anyone want to talk things over with a stranger?! Why indeed?
Of course ‘talking things over’, usually earns such advice
as; “why don’t you just tell him to ……….!!”.
Or, “Oh for heavens sake. Just put it behind you and get on
with your life.” And then there is; “I quit just like
that. I know you can do it.”
Whether the advice is sound or not, in most cases the friend is telling
you what you should do, for reasons that they believe are best for
you. I.e. the advice is not always objective, and may likely not coincide
with who you are and what works for you.
My advice is to choose to work with someone who is objective and,
most importantly, who is trained to help you deal with the issues
that are troubling you, and to help you make the changes that you
have decided you need to make. These may be quite different from the
changes that your well-meaning friends think you should make.
With over 600 hours of face-to-face, experiential training over several
years, I think I have an excellent chance of helping you make those
important changes in your life. Call the clinic today and take that
first step towards change.
